Ashley McLellan: A Movement Workshop for Instrumentalists

In this gentle movement workshop, celebrated contemporary dancer Ashley McLellan will lead us through a physical awareness practice to enliven a dialogue between the animate and inanimate.

FNQ Harp Connection are offering a unique opportunity to connect with your instrument in a whole new way.

Ashley McLellan’s extensive professional experience and personal interests make her uniquely gifted to facilitate this very special workshop, where you will learn a dancer’s perspective on how to relate to your instrument in a deeper, more conscious way. Issues like posture, balance, fluidity of gesture and ease of expression will be addressed and explored.

We are excited to welcome such a masterful movement artist into our community to bring insight to the often overlooked physical relationship between the artist and the instrument.

All instrumentalists (vocalists included) are welcome. You do not need to be a dancer to attend this workshop.

If the instrument speaks from within

And the body speaks from within

We can enliven the dialogue between the two

When no part of instrument and body are left behind

A great flow of energy can awaken to energise our system
